JANE GOT A GUN (2016)
This film directed by Gavin O’Connor from a screenplay by Brian Duffield, Anthony Tambakis and Joel Edgerton is essentially a revenge tale that we’ve seen before but done very well, that you tend to forgive any of the clichés present and accept the story as is. You really get a feel for how hard life was in the Old West and virtually any of the glamour imparted by any of the old Hollywood westerns can be laid to rest when the reality of the matter came around. Compellingly acted by Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, Noah Emmerich and Ewan McGregor you will definitely not be wasting your time if you have a hankering for a western with a bit of a feminist point of view. Films always reflect the times that they were made in, which can be to their detriment as far as reality is concerned, but entertainment being the order of the day I’d say the filmmakers by and large succeeded here.
